Advice for contributors

This advice for contributors is designed to help you submit articles that will be accepted by our editorial staff. We have made these instructions as straightforward as possible. Please read them before submitting your article in order to avoid delays in acceptance or rejections. We reserve the right to reject any article at our discretion and you submit your article on this understanding.

Your Content

  1. Your article must be original and not have been published anywhere else on the Web or on our site. We run checks to make sure that your content is unique.
  2. Your article must be written in clear English. We reject articles with poor levels of written english as these waste our reader's valuable time and do not help your reputation either.
  3. We are looking for articles that offer genuine value. You will have knowledge and skill in certain areas and your article should contain quality content that is useful to others who can learn from your expertise.
  4. Try to make your article interesting as well as useful. If it reads like a magazine or newspaper article then it is more likely to be read to the end.
  5. We allow you two links back to your site but your article needs to have value in its own right too.
  6. We do not accept any article containing:
  • Pornography, adult or mature content.
  • Violent content.
  • Content related to racial intolerance or advocacy against any individual, group or organization.
  • Excessive profanity.
  • Content to do with hacking.
  • Gambling or casino-related content.
  • Any content related to illicit drugs or the sale of prescription drugs.
  • Content aimed at selling beer, alcohol or tobacco.
  • Content related to the sales of weapons or ammunition or the encouragement of their use. This would include articles related to firearms, firearm components, fighting knives, stun guns etc.
  • Content related to replicas or imitations of designer labels or goods.
  • Articles encouraging the distribution, copying or unfair assistance with coursework, essays or projects.
  • Content involving programs that compensate users for clicking ads or offers, carrying out searches, surfing websites or reading emails.
  • Any content that is illegal, encourages illegal activity or infringes the rights of others.

Other Tips and Advice Including Help with Formatting

Article Title

Do not use all Capital Letters in any words of your title. Instead use Lower Case, with the first letter of major words in Capitals. This makes your title easy to read.

Do not put your name or website URL in your title. (Remember, the purpose of your article should be to enhance your reputation by offering valuable advice or information.)

Think about your title carefully. It needs to be interesting but also give a good indication of what is in your article.

Article Body

Your article should be at least 300 words in length.

Do not write your title again at the top of the article body. Any copyright information should be included at the bottom of the article.

Links

You can provide two links to your site either in your body text or in your 'About the Author' box. (Or one in each.) However, if your article is just a sales pitch, it will be rejected. Your link must be relevant to your content. We do not allow links in the first two paragraphs of your text.

We do not recommend including Email or 'Mailto' links. These can be picked up by spammers.

Paragraphs

When splitting paragraphs in the text editor remember that a one line gap is enough. A two or more line gap will result in too much space between your paragraphs. If things get tangled up in the text editor, the simplest solution is often deleting any gap between the two paragraphs until the letters meet, and then pressing the enter key a single time.

Punctuation

Do not use repeated punctuation marks in your text, such as !!!!!. And do not Capitalize words for effect. This is considered to be shouting and will drive your readers away.

About the Author Box

This is where you can relate your knowledge to the article and link back to your web site. It is best to vary this for each article and to make it different to the author information in your profile that will also be visible.

Category and Tags

You can select one category that best describes your article and add up to ten of your own tags for the article. These should help to precisely describe your article.
